Also, as the series progressed, her shyness towards Ash faded, as she was able to hold his hand, cover for him in a battle and even kiss him in the lips(it has been confirmed by writers) in the last episode. And the fact that Serena wears the ribbon Ash gave her further solidifies that Ash is important to her. His advice helped Serena achieve her goal to perform in the Master Class, up to the point where she had to face Aria. But it turns out, Ash has helped her in her journey. When Serena changed her look and started to be more serious about her performing career, every Amourshipper thought her love for Ash has faded. At the start of the XY series, Serena loves Ash, and that was it. There was a short goodbye scene with Squishy and Bonnie, and Kalos got to see the sun rise again. And with it, the group was able to shutdown Lysandre's machine, and Zygarde destroyed the megalith and "killed" Lysandre. With all cells now gathered, Zygarde 100% Forme was revealed. Alain was frustrated, but thanks to Ash, he has decided to leave the past behind and battle Lysandre. Instead, Alain ended up helping Lysandre complete his goal into restarting the world. In Alain's case, he gathered Mega Evolution energy in order to save Chespie, at least that's what Lysandre promised. And if they didn't made these specials, the two would've felt like a shoehorned and underdeveloped mess.Īnd what about Alain's role? Alain has been described as an "Anakin Skywalker"-type of character, which means that he turned to the dark side to protect the ones he loves. They were also given enough time to develop because of these. The writers made a good call on making these specials to introduce Alain and Mairin. The reason why we are aware of his strength is because of the Mega Evolution specials. This is because Alain was a considerably stronger trainer than Ash. I was, however, I got over it fairly quickly. Okay, I would be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that Ash lost in the finals. And if you ask me, I got goosebumps from start to finish. The feels that these battles and emotions combined felt like a rollercoaster. The backstories behind Ash, Shota and Alain combined with great animation just made every battle amazing to watch.
